Kaali is mentioned as the first of the ten Maha Vidya Devathas because in a certain way she is the one who “spins the wheel of the universal time”. On the other hand, at the end of the manifested world, time (in Sanskrit Kaala) devoured all the universes of the three plans of the creation: the physical, the astral and the causal universes.

Kaali finally devours the time {Kaala} itself, and this is the very reason for which Kaali is viewed as the primordial cause of the creation and destruction of the universe. She is described as being dark as the night, dancing over Shiva’s inert, white body. This representation reveals the significance of the two fundamental aspects of Reality: on one hand there is the dynamic aspect of God (Kaali’s dance) and on the other the static, transcendent aspect of consciousness (identified with Shiva). Spiritual Tantric writings denote this high level state as SAT–CHIT–ANANDA (Pure existence – pure consciousness – infinite bliss ).

Kaali is also known under the name of Aadhimahavidyaa , the first of the Dasa Maha Vidya Devathas, but this should not mislead us, as it does not imply any hierarchy, but rather the idea of order in the cosmic evolution. Kaali is also referred as Aadhyashakthi, in her quality of energy and terrible Cosmic Wisdom who impels humankind towards positive direction, talent and speedy action. Her important portfolios are war, revolution, famine, floods, fire accidents, storms, epidemic diseases and pandemic virus attacks like SARS, Spanish Flu, MERS. Plague, Covid 19, etc.,

One of the most usual way one worships Kaali is as the goddess Durga, the one who defeated the demon Mahishasura, saving the gods from captivity and set up again the divine order in the universe. She was also instrumental for the Kurukshetra war of Mahabharath.

The spiritual significance of this myth is that each human being has inside both good and bad, and these energies constantly fight for supremacy. Kaali implies the effort of purifying and activating the centers of force, so that the fundamental energy Kundalini ascends from Muladhara chakra to Sahasrara.The ascension of Kundalini represents one of the characteristic and most important aspects of Kaali’s worship, and is correlated with the practice of sexual continence, according to the principles of the Tantric doctrine.The mysterious influence of Kaali is so complex and hidden that only few pure souls may see through Her actions, their real significance.

Kaali appears under a number of other forms, with minor differences as regards the number of the arms, face, of symbolic objects she holds.Thus, Shmasaana Kaali, Siddha Kaali, Maha Kaali, Guhyakaali(the one prayed by Lord Rama) represent just as many aspects of the Goddess, worshipped in different areas of India.

In South India, there are innumerous forms Badrakaali, Renukadevi, Mariamman, Chamundi, , Ellaikkaali,Kottaikaali, Adharvana Kaali(pritingara goddess — destroys evil and blackmagic) and several other local names.

God Sharabha or Sarabha is a part-lion and part-bird beast in Hindu mythology, who, according to Sanskrit literature, is eight-legged and more powerful than a lion or an elephant, possessing the ability to clear a valley in one jump. The two wings has Pritingara Devi and Shoolini Durga. God Sarabha along with Printingara devi, Shoolini devi in the wings help remove enemies, black magic, save life. Please pray to him. MahaKali Chandi Chamundi Goddess Chamunda also known as Chamundeshwari, Charchika and Rakta Kali is a fearsome form of Chandi, the Hindu Divine Mother Durga and the leader of the seven Matrikas(mother goddesses) is also the Goddess of War and epidemics /pandemics of pestilent diseases, famines and other disasters.
